Visualization of the area of concern is critical for the diagnosis and treatment of sinus cavity problems. Traditionally, doctors have relied on outpatient imaging services. The patient is required to make an appointment with an imaging facility and then return to the doctor to receive the results. This may delay treatment and may also require additional follow up doctor appointments. Depending on insurance coverage, it may add to the patient’s out-of-pocket costs as well.
Memorial Village ENT now provides Sinus-Optimized CT Scanning services in the office. Our advanced Sinus-Optimized CT scanner is accredited by IAC – Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for meeting the highest accreditation standards for CT imaging. This leads to a quicker and more accurate diagnosis and reduces the inconvenience and expense of visiting an imaging center; and helps the doctor prepare your treatment plan faster.
The CT scan is needed when Dr. McCutcheon performs nasal and sinus surgeries by providing a precise roadmap of the patient’s nasal and sinus structure. The high-quality CT scan image has proven essential in the detection of ENT-related diseases, allergies, disorders of sinus passageways, including congestion and drainage as well as other nasal and sinus ailments. It can also detect associated problems in the ear.
Memorial Village ENT now provides Sinus-Optimized CT Imaging without having to visit an imaging facility and making additional follow up appointments. This state-of-the-art equipment is used for rapid diagnosis and visualization of the patient’s sinuses to diagnose ENT and allergy disorders. Imaging is required before treatment of most nasal, sinus and allergic problems including balloon sinuplasty, nasal airway remodeling and freezing of abnormal nasal nerve tissues (ClariFix Cryotherapy). The in-office sinus CT scan image will be the roadmap to understand the nose and sinus passageways in order to determine the best possible treatment plan.
The MiniCAT 2020 at Memorial Village ENT has advanced technology that creates CT scan images of superior quality with much less radiation than conventional CT scanners at most imaging facilities. To further enhance our patient care, Memorial Village ENT has undergone a voluntary but intensive review process by a panel of medical experts and is awarded accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care in CT.
The patient is invited to sit upright on a chair in front of the scanner. When they are ready, the scanner’s overhead arm makes a single pass round the head. The scanning process itself takes less than a minute and is completely safe. The doctor can then review your results usually the same day.
